Call for Nominations to the PacificSport Vancouver Island Board of Directors

PacificSport Vancouver Island is currently seeking passionate individuals to serve on their Board of Directors. Candidates will be able to dedicate their time and expertise to help in the development of athlete, coach, and community sport services on Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast.

PacificSport Vancouver Island is a not-for-profit organization created in 1995 to act as a regional sport hub that creates partnerships with recreation departments, school districts, health authorities, and local sport organizations to bring programs, events, and support for people of all ages and abilities.

Currently, PacificSport Vancouver Island has up to three (3) volunteer board positions up for election in September 2021 and is specifically seeking to enhance the diversity of the Board to better represent our communities. This includes but is not limited to persons of all sexual orientations and genders, First Nations, Métis and Inuit, Black people, Persons of Colour, and persons with disabilities. We strongly encourage applicants from remote and rural communities and seek representation from across the region.

Directors are nominated for up to three terms with a maximum of three years per term. In addition to demonstrating a passion for PacificSport Vancouver Island’s mission to provide education and opportunities for active living and sport at all levels and abilities, we ask applicants to identify whether they possess the following priority skill sets and competencies: 

  • Financial Acumen – eg CPA
  • Legal
  • Governance [including Indigenous Governance]
  • Government Relations
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion awareness, expertise and/or Lived Experience
