While Jenny John’s favourite spectator sports are golf, curling and tennis, it was her background in competitive field hockey as a player, coach and umpire at the provincial and national level that drew her to PacificSport. “When I moved to Kamloops to retire I wanted to keep in touch with high-performance sport and share my provincial sport perspective.”

A graduate of Nonington College of Physical Education (Physical Education), Jenny has been a teacher both in England and Canada and was the BC Women’s Field hockey Provincial Coordinator for 21 years. She was the Field Hockey Sport Chair for the 2006 BC Games in Kamloops, as well as the 2011 Western Summer Games, and served as Field Hockey Canada’s technical advisor during the 1993 and 2005 Canada Summer Games. Jenny was inducted into the BC Hall of Fame in 2010 for her considerable contribution as a ‘builder’ within Field Hockey. She was most recently inducted into the Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame in 2019 in the Builder Category for all round contribution to the sport.
